Like being transported to Paris of the 1930's

I was fortunate enough to see Ms. Wainwright perform many of the selections from this album when she opened for her brother Rufus in concert last summer. While I'm sure that many of the other members of the audience had come to see Rufus, Martha completely stole the show from him. (And c'mon this is the showiest of showmen, Rufus Wainwright we're talking about!) The audience fell madly in love with Martha - and this album! I couldn't wait to buy it. You don't need to speak French to love this. It's wildly romantic and masterfully performed. And if you can ever see her live, just do it! But this is the next best thing. What a voice!

Martha Channels Piaf

I had only heard bits and pieces of Martha's work, until she toured with her more famous brother.
Martha sings these songs with a theatrical, passionate verve. She moved me in a way her brother has yet to.
"The Little Sparrow" would be proud! Brovo Martha!
