I liked these guys the first time I heard them. Like many, I have hundreds of artists that I follow or at least recognize. For me, this band has a distinct sound that I always look forward to hearing. I find myself rooting for these guys to break out, as many of us do when we find artists that we like. They're well loved in DC, but I'd love to see them get more air play on alternative music radio. I feel their sound is multi layered, with qualities influenced by bands like Fleetwood Mac and others from the 1980's. The key ingedient is their willingness to depart from those roots and try things that are fresh, new, and original. thet don't get trapped in formulas. For me, they get mu utmost respect. I'd love to se them live as I hear they put on a phenomenal show.

Don't miss out!

This band has such great depth to their music and passion in what they do. It's incredible to see how they've grown. Don't sleep on this band or album or else you'll really be missing out on some great music!

A fantastic sophomore follow-up

U.S. Royalty's second album captures the band in an introspective period, which shines through in the standout opening track, Into the Thicket. With the opening ethereal chords, delicately coupled with John Thornley's hushed introduction, a scene is set for the journey to come when he sings, "Came from the land of the midnight sun", and with the cascading crescendo of the chorus as the song builds to it's climax, the listener is quickly able to gather they are being led on a passage of discovery and longing, longing that ultimately brings one to the point of rediscovering their roots, which is at the heart of this album. The pensive song, "Get on Home", found on the second half of the album perfectly encapsulates this theme of Blue Sunshine, with Thornley acknowledging that with time spent away from home, "it's hard to find the words," but finding that solace and hope are to be found in the "moments we realize we're not alone", hinting at the realization that home is no longer a place, but rather, made up of the friends made along the journey of life. It is this lasting message that Blue Sunshine impresses upon the heart, and reason why the gentlemen of U.S. Royalty have once again succeeded in crafting a timeless piece of music.
