A Treasure

Carline Ray has an extraordinary contralto voice and a rare authenticity. She graduated from both Julliard and Manhattan School of Music at a time when few women were doing that, of any color. On this album, recorded when she was in her mid-80s, she shares her lush tones and spiritual-infused phrasing on memorable tunes. What a treasure.
