Album Review

With his eighth Windham Hill album, guitarist William Ackerman charts new musical territory with a record full of diversity, beauty and musical exploration. Complementing his strong signature guitar sound is a cast of supporting players that include Paul McCandless on English horn and oboe, Michael Manring on fretless bass, Buckethead on electric guitar, Philip Aaberg on piano, Tim Story on keyboards and Michael Spiro on percusssion.

I believe this to be one of the best instrumental albums in my collection. William Ackerman is a genius of subtle melodies which can only be enhanced by the roster of players he has backing him on these songs. My favorites are the 1000 mile stair and a happy home in kathmandu. Very beautiful piece of art.
