iTunes Review

This collection of leftovers, rarities, outtakes, b-sides, and stray tracks is in some ways the best way to hear this definitive “grunge” band. Its debut album, Ten, established Pearl Jam in the public mind as an ennui-laden powerhouse of a hard rock band, but while Eddie Vedder sings with an arena rock singer’s sense of reach, he also just as easily sits himself in the corner to mourn in quiet. Lost Dogs is much more fun than the band’s proper studio albums. It has no need to fulfill or extend a particular album’s mood. In its place is a looseness the band rarely explores. The rockers kick with wilder abandon (“Sad,” “Alone”), the pop songs flow with a sweet twist (“Down,” “Hitchhiker“), the ballads express great sorrow and mystery (“Strangest Tribe,” “Drifting,” “4/20/02”), and the goofy moments like the mock-noir of “Sweet Lew” and the funk-metal “Dirty Frank” show the band has a sense of humor. “Last Kiss” and “Yellow Ledbetter” are the most familiar to fans with 11 previously unreleased tracks making for added bonus.

Thankfully They Found The "Lost Dogs"!!

Excellent "B-Sides" with some singles that you have already heard before thrown into the mix. An excellent addition to an already extensive Pearl Jam catalog. And if you are paying attention to songs such as "Hitchhiker" you will notice that Eddie sings background to Stone's lead vocals. A nice chnage of pace indeed. If you are a Pearl Jam fan then you MUST buy this album, or if you are a causual observer of Pearl Jam and just want to hear some good music - then buy it anyway. Excellent Album - Well Done!!

Great Album and Finally Hard to Imagine (PJ Hidden Treasure)

Mr. Vedder, please cover you eyes. Purchased a boot leg album Outtakes in college and came across Hard to Imagine. This is one of PJ's best! To may amazement PJ played this in Philadelphia and now finally a great quality version on Lost Dogs. This is a must for your library. Enjoy! PS. Sing more rant less, please!

Lost Dogs is a good collection of songs, but like a few other people, i too noticed that it is missing songs that i would prefer be on here such is Daddy Could Swear I Declare and Just a Girl and it has versions of songs that aren't quite as good such as alone or brother (they orginally had one with lyrics that is awesome). But in all i do really like the songs here. Recommended songs if you're only getting a few: Sad Down Hitchhiker Don't Gimme No Lip Alone Black,Red,Yellow Leavin Here Gremmie Out of Control Hold On Yellow LEdbetter Fatal Footsteps Wash Drifting Dirty Frank Sweet Lew

Formed: 1990 in Seattle, WA

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Pearl Jam rose from the ashes of Mother Love Bone to become the most popular American rock & roll band of the '90s. After Mother Love Bone's vocalist, Andrew Wood, overdosed on heroin in 1990, guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament assembled a new band, bringing in Mike McCready on lead guitar and recording a demo with Soundgarden's Matt Cameron on drums. Thanks to future Pearl Jam drummer Jack Irons, the demo found its way to a 25-year-old San Diego surfer named Eddie Vedder, who overdubbed...
