For one thing... The two reviewers before me obviously don't listen to this style of music anyway. So why would you just slander them so hard? This band is actually really good. They have a sound that kind of is the cross between Black Heart Perception and Blond Redhead. Lots of dark piano. I bought it... It's awesome.

Genre defying?

Suonds like music in Austin sounds: irrational, complex at times, but easily reproduce-able. The voices are less than perfect, the music itself leaves plenty of wiggle-room. Each track does sort of define itself; there's not an album here, but a really fine collection of tunes. Lyrically they try too hard at times, making them all that much more earnest and heartfelt. I'd love to say they are the next Big Thing. But I think they are far better than that.

Dig the piano

I like this CD; it's not your usual sound and the piano is janglin'. "Last Night's Floor" is my favorite. Check it out. It's can be moody, melodic, nice harmonies ....

Desert City Soundtrack began in Portland, and featured Matt Carillo (guitars, vocals), Cory Gray (keys, vocals, trumpet), and Brian Wright (drums). Over a series of releases the trio perfected its lush, detached brand of indie rock that incorporated elements of Built to Spill, Sebadoh, Ben Folds Five, and the emo movement. DCS issued a few early 7"s before signing to Deep Elm and issuing the Contents of Distraction EP in 2002. The Funeral Car LP followed in 2003, and the band appeared...
