Album Review

Released in 2008, De Fil en Aiguille is the debut album from Parisian duo Felipecha aka singer/songwriter Charlotte Savary and guitarist Philippe Chevallier. Produced by Manuel Armstrong (Jeremy Chatelain), its 12 jazz-influenced French chansons include the singles "Quelque Part" and "Un Petit Peu D'air," and the Spanish-sung "Juanitita." ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi

Highly Recommended Album

If you are looking for wonderful, relaxing French music with an indie-folk vibe, I highly recommend this excellent debut album of Felipecha. Even if you don't understand French, the melodies are very nice and make this a pleasant album. The album includes a variety of upbeat tempos, such as "Quelque Part", "Un Petit Peu d'air," and catchy rhythms such as "Matin du Café" and "La Petite Sibérie," and "J'aime Dormir." The Spanish-tinged "Juanitita" is a gem of the album closing off very nicely with one of my favorite songs, "La Victoire de Samothrace." I look forward to future albums.

sometimes sweet, sometimes melancholic

really a tight, strong album with a beautiful mix of sweet, dream-like musings and a darker melancholy that flows just beneath the surface. savory's vocals are superb, and she is always complemented perfectly by the instrumentals.
