Reseña de álbum

It's a fact that it's all downhill for a band after the release of their third album. The Bouncing Souls should have ended it while at the highlight of their first Epitaph release; instead, the masses were fed the filler album Hopeless Romantic. Screeching Weasel should have stayed broken up after How to Make Enemies and Irritate People, but Ben Weasel needed to make his house payments. Avail, however, manage to prove this theory wrong with their fifth album One Wrench.

There have been many of changes for Avail since their previous album Over the James; a label and rhythm section change to be exact. But the energy has been revamped as this veteran five piece continue their blaze of explosive, sing-along punk. Particularly on tracks like "Fast One," "Taken," "n30," and "Heron," the tight, pounding riffage and in-your-face vocals remain as Avail proves that they still have it after all these years. If only other bands could learn not to be cynical and uncaring in their old age.

Who could rate this any different?

So having grown up in Richmond, knowing all the references that Tim Barry and company are talking about I have come to love the band and the city and this album. They give a solid performance on this record. They have by the time this album was made, polished their unique sound and they are just a good solid band. You should get this album. It is put out in a good label and it is a decent record. They are not reinventing the wheel but they definitely keep it rolling. Género: Alternativa

Años de actividad: '00s

A gritty punk quintet from Richmond, VA, Avail comprises vocalist Tim Barry, guitarist Joe Banks, bassist Gwomper, drummer Erik Larson, and "cheerleader" Beau Beau. Their distinct sound is based in the sincerity and aggression of punk, the power of classic rock, and an admiration of the nearby Washington, D.C., hardcore scene of the late '80s. The group originally released their debut, Satiate, on their own Catheter Assembly Records in 1992, but the album was re-released two years later by Lookout!...
