EDITORS’ NOTES

Cackling with energy and warmth, this debut album from the Madrid-based quartet is an effortless joy. Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote’s dual vocals circulate in a hazy mist around giddy guitars to produce gorgeous garage-pop gems like the woozy “San Diego” and bouyant “Warts.” But it’s not all sun-drunk and carefree. “Catigadas En El Granero” is a feverish riot while “And I Will Send Your Flowers Back” and “I’ll Be Your Man” reveal the band’s vulnerable—and joyously vengeful—side.

troll

JRGTV,

I'm not a troll but sampling this album was so bad I had to say something . get yourself an 80s 4 track recorder , a bunch of talentless trashy young drunk chicks and record them wasted singing to 60s and 70s tv show theme music . I wish I was the record label on this because they're gonna make millions off you mindless drones . lol sad but true . enjoy it if you like it .

Wow.

Lola______,

This album has such a profound psychedelic nature that exudes a true dreamlike quality. I love the vocals and instruments, hazy and unedited, and the nostalgic feelings they induce. I give this album 5/5 stars without a doubt…but what do I know, I’m fifteen :)))

About Hinds

Hinds are a four-piece garage pop band based in Madrid, Spain. Originally formed as a duo by singers and guitarists Carlotta Cosials and Ana García Perrote in 2011, the two friends released a pair of lo-fi demos on their Bandcamp page under the name Deers. Released in the summer of 2014, those two noisy, melodic pop tunes, "Bamboo" and "Trippy Gum," caught the attention of several U.K. publications like NME and The Guardian. Within months, Deers had expanded to a quartet with addition of bassist Ade Martín and drummer Amber Grimbergen. A second single release, Barn, followed in November of that year, after which, Deers were forced to change their name due to a legal threat by another band already using it. Under their new moniker, Hinds, they continued to expand their touring range all across Europe and the U.K., releasing a split single with fellow Spaniards the Parrots in April 2015 and appearing on a compilation from garage-centric U.S. label Burger Records. Their debut album, Leave Me Alone, arrived in January 2016 on British label Lucky Number Music. ~ Timothy Monger
