Nocturnal

Nocturnal

Down with the Brooklyn-based supercrew Boot Camp Clik, Heltah Skeltah hit the scene in 1996 with the near-classic album Nocturnal, produced by the BCC's in-house team of Da Beatminerz, as well as Shawn J Period and E-Swift. (It continued the BCC's run of landmark debuts, following Black Moon's Enta Da Stage and Smif-N-Wessun's Dah Shinin'.) Here, we get 17 quality tracks that showcase fantastic back-and-forth interplay from Ruck (now known as Sean Price) and Rock (a.k.a. Sparksky and Dutch) rhyming about various BK shenanigans, Boot Camp pride, and their Decepticons pedigree. Though it never went gold or platinum, Nocturnal was an underground favorite and especially popular in New York. Key selections include "Lethal Brainz Blo," "Therapy," and "Clan's, Posse's, Crew's & Clik's," plus the absolutely classic posse cut "Lefleur Leflah Eshkoshka" featuring the next generation of Boot Camp acts, Originoo Gunn Clappaz.
