On Being the Same as "Paint It, Black"

In terms of the music, "Marie douceur, Marie colere" is a cover of the Stones song, "Paint It, Black", but the words are completely different. It's about a woman who has a double personality: "sweet Marie" and "angry Marie"--but I like it because it seems to speak to the way men view women and how (some) women attempt to shape their own personalities in a relationship, based on traditional ideas of what a woman should be but also--especially in the 1960s and 1970s, when Marie Laforet was big--as a rebel who defies these concepts. There are a couple other "covers" here--Marie Laforet was instrumental in popularizing many English-language pop songs in France.
