Editors’ Notes

It’s a delicious paradox that a shock-rock concept rocker such as Marilyn Manson would actually excel at being a “singles” artist. Yet, like two ambitious conceptualists before him — David Bowie and Alice Cooper — Manson makes a big impact with the short form. He may promote himself as a defiant individualist but his best work exhibits a strong sense of rock tradition. “The Dope Show,” “The Beautiful People,” “Rock Is Dead,” and “mOBSCENE” crush with a sonic sense of rock history, recalling classic poses from the past while forging their own industrial-hard rock territory. Not all Manson’s hits are here, but his covers of the Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” and Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love” show off his mischievous, playful side. Has the shock worn off “Disposable Teens” and “This Is the New Sh*t”? If so, the riffs were made to last long after the initial buzz and they do with an era’s defining touch.

This album is a great representation of all the albums produced by manson. Lest we forget shows the great transformation of Marilyn Manson over the years. I would reccomend this album to anyone looking for all the best hits from manson, though I would've liked to seen "Coma White" on the album.

Love every song, but some are missing.

THIS ALBUM IS KILLER. i mean really, i love EVERY SONG on this Compilation. but i could name some songs that could easily of found a place here. *coma white *I don't like the drugs (but the drugs like me) *I Put a Spell on you. *Dope Hat *Man That you Fear *Astonishing Panorama of the Endtimes *Antichrist Superstar its not like theyre my 'fan favorites', theyre just singles that are quite popular and are video hits. Marilyn Manson, the self-proclaimed "Antichrist Superstar," became a mainstream antihero, much to the chagrin of conservative politicians and concerned parents.
