iTunes Review

Like many of PJ Harvey's albums, this 2011 release is largely about a doomed and sometimes violent love affair—only this time the affair is with her country. The music, appropriately, sports a dark, gothic feel, with ominous rhythm loops and Harvey's trademark banshee wails. England's warlike history fuels the lyrics. The title song is full of death and decay, while "The Glorious Land" samples an off-key battle trumpet, so it's already creepy enough before she gets to the lines about the casualties of war.

PJ harvey has always released poetic, tuneful, meaningful and Intriguing music. Songs of falling in love or of the situations and problems we face, collectively, as we waste our time on so-called love. All the while, she's the legendary and alternative (indie) genius/goddess with that gorgeous voice! Long may she rave!
