Adding Andrew Roachford as one of the singers is a genius move.
That guy has a great voice and writes great songs.
This is the best single from them in 20 years.

Great Album!

Classic Mike and The Mechanics sound!

Mike and the Mechanics are Back and Better than Ever!!!

Man!! I cannot believe how amazing this album is!!! What the best part of this album is that it sticks to the roots of the past, but is able to be modern at the same time. Many later bands have issues with this, and its understandable, you cannot please everyone. But Mike Rutherford and his band with this album have been able to do what most cant!! There lead single "Dont Know What Came Over Me is a true classic from the band" I also really like the songs "Are you Ready," which has a cool techno sound to it, "Wonder," a song that flows amazingly well, "The Best is Yet to Come," which is such a good feeling and up temp song, and "The Letter." I will tell you, Andrew Roachford has brought a unique, but classic sound to this band and to the music. He does remind me of former Late lead singer Paul Young like with the lead single, "Dont Know What Came Over Me," but is able to bring his own sound as well to the fold. I truly think this ablum belongs in the same class of there past albums, such as "The Living Years," "Word Of Mouth," and "Beggar on a Beach of Gold." "The Road," whihc was released in 2011, was a good album, but this album seems to have more energy in it. I feel like Mike and his team have not just recaptured the spirit of the past, but at the same time; they have been able to keep up with the current trends in music, which is truly incredible!! Keep up the amazing work and I cannot wait for there next album!!!

Score: 10/10

About Mike + The Mechanics

While Phil Collins was pursuing his solo career in 1985, Genesis bassist/guitarist Mike Rutherford formed the pop/rock band Mike + the Mechanics. Featuring Rutherford (bass), former Ace and Squeeze member Paul Carrack (vocals, keyboards), ex-Sad Cafe member Paul Young (vocals), keyboardist Adrian Lee, and drummer Peter Van Hooke, the group released its self-titled first album late in 1985. The record produced two Top Ten hit singles, "Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)" and "All I Need Is a Miracle," which both peaked on the charts in early 1986. Later that year, Rutherford returned to Genesis and Carrack revived his solo career.

Mike + the Mechanics didn't release another album until 1988's The Living Years. The record was a greater success than the first album, spawning the number one hit single "The Living Years." After its release, the group was inactive for another few years, returning in 1991 with Word of Mouth, which failed to duplicate the success of its first two records. Four years later, Mike + the Mechanics released their fourth record, Beggar on a Beach of Gold, which was a moderate hit in the U.K. In the spring of 1996, Mike + the Mechanics released the greatest-hits collection Hits in Britain; M6 followed three years later. Young died of a heart attack on July 15, 2000. The band re-formed in 2004, releasing the all new Rewired under the moniker Mike + the Mechanics featuring Paul Carrack.

In 2009, after a hiatus that saw Genesis' induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Rutherford began working on a new Mechanics record, this time with new vocalists Andrew Roachford and Tim Howar on board. The Road was released in April 2011, and followed up by a 22-show U.K. tour. In 2014 the group celebrated the 25th anniversary of the release of The Living Years, while also embarking on a North American tour in 2015, their first since the album's original release in 1988. Rutherford returned to the studio in 2016 to record the band's eighth album, Let Me Fly. Joined once again by Roachford and Howar on vocals, the rest of the band was rounded out by guitarist Anthony Drennan, keyboardist Luke Juby, and drummer Gary Wallis. Let Me Fly appeared in March 2017. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
