18 Songs, 1 Hour 39 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

This is an even more natural-sounding and free-flowing fusion of blues, rock, and soul than its two predecessors. Recorded on the band’s own terms in their home studio, Let Me Get By overflows with greasy grace. When a band has developed this level of musical telepathy, small moments like Derek Trucks’ guitar chasing Kofi Burbridge’s flute around the dreamy coda of “I Want More” mean as much as big ones, such as Susan Tedeschi’s soulful wail and Trucks’ searing slide riding out the “Midnight Rider”-esque groove of “Anyhow.”

Simply outstanding. Pure perfection.

The third studio from TTB is another masterpiece! This is an absolute gem. Each song is filled with soul, blues and passion. Derek continues to amaze and Susan sounds so incredible. These songs are so well written and the band with horns, 2 drums, organ and back vocals continues to be off the charts. Let me get by starts of with Anyhow--- one of the best songs I've ever heard. Soul, passion and an amazing riff that gets me every time. Give it a shot it will hook you. Laugh about it ----is another fantastic tune but then believe it or not the WHOLE album is just sensational. The deluxe version catches the band live which is pure joy, well worth it. I will see them for the ninth time in December and can't wait. If you get the chance to see them live do it. Hit a few of the sample and that is all it will take. This is the highest of recommends.

Not enough Trucks, not enough funk

Too much Tedeschi, not enough Trucks. Much prefer the Trucks band straight up, much more nuanced, jazzy, funky and experimental. This sounds very pedestrian and is very safe. Disappointing effort IMHO.

3rd time is the charm

Revelator was a great first statement and Made Up Mind was a step forward and refinement of the recipe. Let Me Get By is what Derek/Susan and team had in mind when they intentionally put this band together. As a dedicated fan of the Derek Trucks Band, it took some time to warm-up to this band - they have me 100% now.

The punch and focus of this album is right on time and right on the money. Blends of blues, funk, jazz and folk brought to a boil. Derek's mastery at the helm of thr soundboard in their home studio in Florida is felt throughout.

5 stars might not be enough for what should be the album of the year. Do yourself a favor and experience "a force to be reckoned with" LIVE and in person when TTB rolls into your town. Buy the Deluxe version because everyone needs their cover of "Keep On Growing" in their library!
