"Gwen McCrae Sings TK"

Check out "Let's Straighten It Out" Gwen Mc Crae and Latimore, it is an awesome rendition. A great Soul Ballad. A great 2006 version..... The whole album is really great. Each song has its own thing and the music is better than ever. This is a must listen to and for me a must buy. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Excellent - can't stop pressing repeat!

This album totally took me by surprise and should become an instant addition for any fan of female R&B vocalists. She has her own style, but if I must create a comparison I'd rank Gwen next to Jill Scott & Angie Stone, but she has the smooth strong sound of Ms. Hill. Buy it, tell your friends and enjoy!

Soulful Suprise

Back in the day I loved Gwen McCrae's version of Rockin Chair. This current dip into TK memories is superb.Ms McCrae's bourban and grits vocals compliment the song choices. The production is first rate.Covers of songs like "Clean Up Woman and" "What you won't do for love" stay true to the originals while adding something extra that makes each song sound fresh. This is a great soulful album and I'm glad I stumbled across it.Well done to all involved.

Along with her husband George ("Rock Your Baby"), Gwen was part of the Miami-based T.K. Records stable, which laid a great deal of groundwork for the disco explosion. Born Gwen Mosley in Pensacola, FL, in 1943, she grew up singing in her Pentecostal church and later discovered secular singers like Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin. She began...
