About Stokley

Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Stokley Williams is known foremost as a founding member and the lead voice of long-running contemporary R&B band Mint Condition. Williams' band formed as high schoolers during the mid-'80s and splashed down in 1991 with "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)," a single that went Top Ten R&B/hip-hop and pop. As the band added to its discography every couple to few years, Williams consistently contributed to dozens of recording sessions, several of which were helmed by fellow Minnesotans Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Over the course of a couple decades, Williams has appeared on albums by the likes of Sounds of Blackness, Karyn White, Toni Braxton, Prince, Kelly Price, Boney James, and Maysa. "Not My Daddy," his duet with Price, was nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best R&B Performance. In 2017, 26 years after he made his commercial debut with Mint Condition, Williams released his first solo album, Introducing Stokley. ~ Andy Kellman
