If you don't have this in your Style Council collection - get it. One their very best. Have listened to this disc a million times (I bought it when it original came out 20 some years ago).

an unheralded gem

It will never cease to amaze me that the critics got this one all wrong. I am confident that this album will resurface. Of course, in 1988 - this was just considered unoriginal and dull. But there is indeed some exquisite soulful songwriting. Lushly orchestrated melodies. Great pop songs. I'm still dumbfounded. Don't believe the hype. At the very least, just check out "It's A Very Deep Sea"and "Changing of the Guard". Goose bumps all around.

Forgotten brilliance

By the time this album came around, people were looking for new sounds and Confessions of a Pop Group was never taken seriously. Unfortunately for the SC, this album never really got its due but in my opinion, some of their best work is on this album. I wore out two cassettes of this so to see this here on iTunes as a remaster, is very exciting.
