iTunes Review

Embracing a coy blend of folk, pop, and cabaret, this album puts Bowie's talents as a singer/songwriter front and center. Each track draws us in with a catchy melody, like the jaunty piano on the music-hall inspired "Kooks" and the stripped-down guitar on the rocker "Song for Bob Dylan." We love picking out the examples of Bowie's trademark wit that weave throughout the songs, like references to Nietzsche and Carl Jung. The standout dramatic ballads "Changes" and "Life on Mars" still sound remarkably powerful.

Cha Cha Changes!

Major Tom we will miss you. This was my favorite David Bowie album. I wore out this album along with his first greatest hits album in the late 70's.

A total classic

Simply put David Bowie is one of the best single acts ever in rock and roll and there is an argument that he is is the best single artist. This LP is one of the best LP's of the 70's period! An absolute must own for anyone who has a remotely serious classic rock collection. i have most of his stuff and this is one of my favorites...problem is he reinvented himself so many times his collection is full of must haves!

The First Great Bowie Record

This is the first of four Bowie records that exemplify his early rock period. "Changes" is one of his best songs. "Life on Mars" and "Oh! You Pretty Things" are two astounding songs that still hold up. "Kooks" is charming and "Andy Warhol" cool. The breadth of Bowie's musical and topical landscape are evident. After this record, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane and Diamond Dogs were all extensions of Hunky Dory.
