Underrated is an Understatment

“Remind Me In Three Days…” get my vote for the most under hyped and most underrated album in 2008, and quite possibly, the last decade. I stumbled upon the New Orleans rap duo on accident, and might I say that I was blown away. They sound very similar another southern rap duo, Atlanta based Outkast, but have their own style as well. This isn’t your typical radio rap duo that tries to sound like Lil Wayne or T-Pain, and it might surprise you how rocking these guys actually are. They play their own instruments and aren’t afraid of throwing in a guitar riff in a song at all. Their lyrics are intelligent and quick and although they hail from the south, they don’t have that distinct twang in their voices that so many southern rappers have, and I think this works in their favor. Their hooks and choruses do exactly that, hook you in and wanting more. I honestly can’t believe that they haven’t been recognized by the mainstream media yet, but won’t be surprised when it happens. They’ve been able to put out the best rap album of the year without even making a stir. Like their debut album’s title, if you haven’t gone out and given them a listen, I’ll remind you in three days.

Another breath of fresh air in hip hop

I really discovered The Knux after they began opening for Common. I later found out they were from New Orleans which made me excited. As a Louisiana native, we get a bad rep for some of the artists that come out from here. People usually associate LA with most of what comes on the radio and not the real talent from the state like Young Bleed, Mac, Fiend, But the Knux are a great new group who really deliver with this album. It's good to see LA has new emcees on the scene like the Knux, Jay Electronica and J. Blitz to show that LA still has emerging talent in hip hop. 18 great tracks w/ solid production & Krispy Kream and Rah Al Millio both with great performances. Definitely an album true hip hop fans need to hear.

Comprising brothers Kentrell "Krispy" Lindsey (formerly Krispy Kream) and Alvin "Joey" Lindsey (formerly Rah Al Millio), the Knux are an alternative rap duo who are musicians as well as singer/rappers. Born in New Orleans yet displaced by Hurricane Katrina, the musically schooled brothers began creating a stir nationally in late 2007 when they were the opening act for Common on his Finding Forever tour.
