iTunes Review

With a rough-and-ready mix of raw guitar power, shuffling grooves, and epic ballads, Blackberry Smoke's fifth album proves that they’re the most earnest heirs to Southern rock royalty like Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers. Every track glows with the warmth of ‘70s AOR—from the half-stack growl of “Waiting for Thunder” and sly dirge of “What Comes Naturally,” to richly harmonized ballads like “Sunrise in Texas.” The set closes with a guest appearance from Gregg Allman himself.

Nothing to make you play it twice

I love the band. I love their sound... but there's just nothing here that makes you want to play the album over and over. All these songs have been done before. There's no...... "wow factor" here. There's no oomph. Nothing original. Nothing to make you sit up and take notice. It's not bad... but every song here is bathroom break stuff. I hate to call it like it is, but I just can't put BBS goggles on and praise something that isn't praise worthy.
