Early Mississippi Punk Rock

Although I do not own this release on CD, I remember having the self made cassettes that The Grumpies would sell at shows around Miss. They were the 1st punk band I ever saw live (around '95) and they were awesome. The Grumpies rocked in a way that was all they're own. I remember thinking that they sounded like a really drunk Pixies cover band with a slight more offbeat sense of lyrical arrangement and a faster, harder sound. One of our first shows was with them in their Hometown of Starkville, Ms, A small college town where beer is only purchased un-chilled. Take that into the account of The Grumpies creation and your curoisity is sure to peaked. DEEP SOUTH COLLEGE PUNK RAWCK AT IT"S BEST! P.S.I stillhave one of their buttons on my leather jacket after all this time. That should tell ya somethin' Bub!

All Nostalgia

Blood, Sweat, and Broken life was changed at 14 in '97 when I witnessed The Grumpies at my first experience of a REAL show and REAL music. You would have to see them live or you wouldn't understand. I still have the shirt I bought that day, some 45's too but I never got a cassette; that's something I'll always regret.

Woulda sounded good
