Good Company

Good Company

Tone Stith wants to take it back…allllllll the way back…or at least back to the 2000s, when mainstream R&B was relatively earnest and pure-hearted. On his short, sweet Good Company EP, the velvety-voiced Houstonian updates glossy, upbeat mid-aughts baby-making jams for the present day, with moody flourishes straight out of the playbook of his mentor, Drake. “Like Mike” might be R&B’s best Michael Jackson homage since The-Dream’s “Michael,” and on “Good Company,” Stith recruits Quavo and Swae Lee for a slinky ballad that sounds like a sunset.
