Finally on iTunes - One of the Great Albums of the 80's

I remember listening to "Amplifier" for the first time on WFNX back in '84. I thought, "This band has a really warped sense of humor -- like me." Afterwards, the DJ mentioned that the band's record company had filed for bankruptcy shortly after "Like This" had been released.

This entire album is filled with great songs, including "She's Got Soul," "Lonely Is (As Lonely Does)," and "On the Battlefront." The band's subsequent release, "The Sound of Music," never matched this album's brilliance.

Back to the Saf Room

The title won't mean anything to anyone who wasn't in Winston in the 80's, but think of your favorite college bar that played "college radio" music (or would stick one of your tapes you brought with you in the deck behind the bar) and you get the picture. dBs were by no means big even in their hometown, but listening to Love is for Lovers and Amplifier takes me right back to the Saf Room or back to Taylor dorm. This one is worth buying again if your cassette melted like the other reviewer lamented. Glad they managed to get back together now for one more-- prompted me to buy this.

My favorite album as a kid!

All these years later I still know every word. This will be on heavy rotation this summer. The new album by the band smokes, too!

And while the dB's spent the bunk of their career living and working on the East Coast, they were the among the first and most important representatives of the Southern branch of the new wave; most of the group's...
