iTunes Review

A landmark of acoustic pop and intelligent, searching spirituality, Jars of Clay’s debut presaged folk music’s renaissance and generated 10 classic songs of faith, doubt, and devotion. The pounding sing-along “Flood” was the big hit, but “Liquid,” with its samples of monastic chanting, was sly in its inventions. “Love Song for a Savior” raised the bar for passionate, personal expressions of worship; “Like a Child” and “Boy On a String” still resonate with their intelligent craft; and “Worlds Apart” remains gripping in its benedictory fervor.

Great album

5 stars, grew up listening to this album and still love it! One of the BEST!

A Christian Rock classic from the 90's

In the 1990's, the Christian rock scene was growing and this is a major album from that time. It is a good album and has some great songs. The lyrics aren't shy about speaking of Jesus. The first four songs, along with "Flood", are all winners but World's Apart is soul stirringly great. Jars of Clay have written many songs since 1995, but this debut album has some of their best.

Great album

This is one of the best Christian albums of all time.

The group's lyrics may have been exclusively Christian, but their acoustic-oriented music fit perfectly into the folky jangle pop wing of alternative rock radio, at the time a rarity on the contemporary Christian music scene. Such success set the stage for breakthroughs by Christian bands like dc Talk and Sixpence...
