EDITORS’ NOTES

This dysfunctional family/road movie by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris was one of '06's most delightfully skewed comic treats. Its soundtrack is no less inventive, complimenting the film's human foibles and left-field laughs with an impressive feat of musical alchemy, teaming Canadian film scorer/new age artist Mychael Danna with eclectic Denver indie outfit Devotchka for the bulk of the score. The unlikely teaming's evocative, cabaret-meets-Morricone conceits bring a stately focus to their collaborations, while never hampering the muse of either artist. Contemporary singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens also contributes a pair of smart performances whose arrangements are well-synced to the Danna/Devotchka musical axis, while Tony Tisdale's "Catwalkin'" and a slinky remix of Rick James' "Superfreak" give the collection welcome doses of club-savvy sass and pop kitsch relief.

Everyone could be a WINNER

The spirit that this moive delivers to us is NEVER GIVE UP, even though you're faced with challenge that you think you can't deal with.
A mother who stepped into menopause too early, a loser whose mouth full of how to success, a gay who is in the sense of melancholy, a boy who wants to be a pilot despite he is colour blindness, a sleazy grandpa with good minds, AND a LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE.

Bought this twice!

So good that I bought it again since I have not been able to transfer my iTunes from my Mac yet. Had to have it in my smartphone now, couldn't wait. Top ten of my all time movies and the soundtrack is perfectly suited to the movie. Evokes so much emotion. I believe because it is such a real movie, with real situations and regular people trying to get through life's curveballs and struggles. I've watched it countless times. #youalreadyknow #howthiswillend
