iTunes Review

On Hemingway’s Whiskey, Kenny Chesney raises a glass and rolls right into a sweeping, six-minute toast to high-school football (“The Boys of Fall”). Throughout the collection, he expertly varies the mood and tempo, Chesney hits big with a fun-loving pop rocker (“Live a Little”) and winds toward “You and Tequila,” a gorgeous slow-burner featuring Grace Potter.

Kenny Does it Again

Another great album from a great artist!
Boys of Fall - An anthem for the falling of the leaves and the lessons learned growing up.
Live a Little - A simple Southern Rocker about livin' and lovin'.
Coastal - In the grand tradition of country tongue in cheek mixed with Kenny's island vibe, be careful, he'll go coastal on you.
You and Tequila - Soft and acoustic with great harmonies. You and tequila make me crazy like like poison in my veins. One more drink could kill me.
Seven Days - A melancholy song about Seven Days of summer love relived 1000 times, building to a crescendo matching great rock ballads.
Small Y'all - A remake of George Jones classic and the closest thing to traditional country on this album (but with a rocking guitar solo).
Where I Grew Up - About the trials and losses that mark the times in our lives that changes us.
Reality - A bright and energetic Kenny style rocker about escaping reality. We need a rock and roll show in the summer, a sunny day and a tailgate!
Round and Round - Bluesy and a little dirty about how the grass is always greener and we go round and round never finding satisfaction. The young want to grow up and the old wish they were young again.
Somewhere with You - Rhythmic and brisk but low key tune wishing for more time together.
Hemingway's Whiskey - Title song and throwback to songs like Old Blue Chair. Thoughtful, melancholy, where life and whiskey both burn and go down smooth. Sail away three sheets to the wind.
Ain't Ever Going Back Again - Kenny, Beaches, and staying forever, traditional sentiments from Jimmy Buffet's worthy successor.
I Didn't Get Here Alone - a live song with a spoken intro and a tribute to the fans. An acoustic guitar, Kenny's clean voice and the ambience of the crowd as he thanks them.
The itunes album also includes 18 video interviews with commentary about each song.

Overall the album is slightly less "islandy" than previous albums with a greater mix of southern rock and melancholy memories. The title Hemingway's Whiskey fits it to a tee.

Kenny Chesney for Super Bowl Halftime Show!

5 stars for Kenny!

Kenny always pick the best songs for his albums. That's why he is always on top. Hemingway's Whiskey and Tyler Barham's EP are my pick of the week on iTunes.

Some real gems

Another great studio album from Kenny Chesney. Beyond the first single (Boys of Fall, which was good), I see several chart topers coming off this album. I absolutely LOVE "Reality" and I can see it being a huge song for him next summer. Another great song that I think is new territory for Kenny is "Somewhere with You." It has a new sound and rhythm for KC and I think people will really dig it. Rounding out the memorable tracks on Hemingway's Whiskey would be "Seven Days," which reminded me of Anything but Mine with the short but passionate love, and also "Tequila and You" where Grace Potter and KC find a special musical partnership. Great effort from Kenny and I can't wait to hear some of it live next summer.

Born: March 26, 1968 in Knoxville, TN

Genre: Country

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Contemporary country star Kenny Chesney didn't have the immediate breakout success that many of his peers enjoyed upon signing with major labels, but gradually built up a significant following via hard work, pop-friendly ballads, and a likable "Average Joe" persona. Chesney was born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1968 and raised in the nearby small town of Luttrell, best known as the home of Chet Atkins. He grew up listening to both country and rock & roll, but didn't get serious about music until college,...
