See THIS SHOW somewhere, somehow

If you like rock music and have never seen John Waite live, go online and find out when he is playing a town near you. You will be very glad you did it. I saw him last summer at outdoor show that he headlined in a smallish Midwest town about an hour from my home. It was the town's annual party/concert. Great weather. 1500-2000 people on a sloping lawn. John Waite was over-the-top strong, stunning really, and you could feel crowd realize that they were seeing a rock star deliver the goods live. Forty minutes into the show and about 15 seconds into Missing You about 200 people rose from the lawn like smiling, swaying zombies and moved to the front. I'd never seen anything like it. But just as interesting at the music fan level, I noticed how people responded to the new Waite/Kyle Cook songs, especially If You Ever Get Lonely. I wouldn't have really expected anyone to stop and listen to new songs from John Waite but by the second verse of Lonely, Evil and Better Off the crowd was fully tuned in. I don't think this record 100% percent captures how good J. Waite is live but it comes pretty close. Definitely worth the money. Go get your tickets. You will be glad.

As a solo artist and as the lead singer of the Babys and Bad English, John Waite was a fixture of album-oriented rock radio stations during the '70s and '80s. Waite had a talent for power ballads and driving arena rock, occasionally touching on new wave-styled power pop as well. Though he didn't consistently have hits, several of his songs -- including "Missing You," the Babys' "Isn't It Time," and Bad English's "When I See You Smile" -- became radio staples. John Waite formed the Babys in London,...
