I've seen these guys in concert back in 1976 in Boston

Alex Harvey, I mean, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band was an opening act for (of all bands) the Average White Band! Of course we were there for Alex Harvey, but sadly most of the folks at the concert were there for the Average White Band. Poor Alex Harvey was booed by the crowd, but cheered on by us SAHB fans. The best part was when Alex announced to the crowd that they were about to play their last song, which was cheered by the crowd, to which Alex replied "But, it's a very long song" and they then went on to play Framed. My friend and I walked out on the Average White Band, we weren't into listening to disco crap. This album is a great reminder of that concert. Long live the Sensational Alex Harvey Band

Alex in action!

"Live" was the best selling SAHB album in the US, which isn't saying much, but does give a taste of the outrageous and confrontational shock-rock theatre associated with Alex and co. Sadly the visuals aren't there (Harvey was to the UK what Alice Cooper was to the US) but there are some fine versions of some of their best songs. "The Penthouse Tapes" was a hodgepodge of covers and b-sides rushed out to have some product out there, it has its highlights like "Jungle Jenny", "I Wanna Have You Back" and the cover of the Osmonds' "Crazy Horses" which must have caused some people in Utah to crap in their pants. This shouldn't be the only SAHB album you have but it's hard to go wrong with Alex, Zal, Chris, and the McKennas....

Zal Cleminson (born May 4, 1949; guitar), Hugh McKenna (born November 28, 1949; keyboards), Chris Glen (born November 6, 1950, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland; bass), and Ted McKenna (born March 10, 1950, Glasgow, Scotland; drums) gave the singer the uncultured power his uncompromising...
