Like the Sun We Will Live To Rise

Amazing and inspiring performance by the Grunge Gods Soundgarden. First NEW Song in 16 YEARS!!! I cannot wait to hear more fomr them this fall!!! Chris Cornell is the greatest singer of all time!!!

No more than the sum of it's parts

I hear Kim, Matt, Ben and Chris, but I don't hear Soundgarden. After making us fans wait so long, pushing the album release date back repeatedly, THIS is the first we get to hear? It's becoming exhausting being a SG fan...Cornell sounds worn out (as usual at this point) too...more water and rest dude! I heard the rest of the new album is really for the fans...we'll see...I'm waiting for more stuff like Black Rain!!

Soundgarden made a place for heavy metal in alternative rock. Their fellow Seattle rockers Green River may have spearheaded the grunge sound, but they relied on noise rock in the vein of the Stooges. Similarly, Jane's Addiction were too fascinated with prog rock and performance art to appeal to a wide array of metal fans. Soundgarden, however, developed directly out of the grandiose blues-rock of Led Zeppelin and the sludgy, slow riffs of Black Sabbath. Which isn't to say they were a straight-ahead...
