Surpassed my expectations
Sometimes, simplicity is best. I was hesitant to buy one more meditation cd because I wasn't very impressed by the sample here. The music seemed annoying and the person speaking seemed like a new age cliche. But that was the sample. I bought this because I needed an effective meditation tool to deal with stress. It turns out that this was perfect - it even put me to sleep. Yes, the music is repetitive but it seems to mirror your breathing - which is what this focuses on. And no, the person speaking was not a cliche. he really knew what to say to help me to meditate into a moderately deep state. The use of a quiet gong to bring my awareness back to my breathing was also a clever idea. Highly recommended. Yes, this is very simple, but it is simple in the way that Shaker furniture is simple - it eliminates everything that is unnecessary and concentrates on function.
Natural, Friendly Voice -- Knowledgable meditation guide
I've listened to lots of audio meditations in the past 20 years. This is the best I've heard. The guy has a natural voice and friendly presentation. (Not too mystical or campy) And he demonstrates a thorough knowledge of meditation as he guides you on a very simple, deep, relaxing breathing meditation. I highly recommend this. In addition, I played this for a friend who had NEVER done meditation before. He was awestruck by his first-time experience with this and has asked to hear it several more times.
Isn't that an oxymoron?
