Too synthetic...

I love Alex Day. "Parrot Stories" was brilliant but "The World is Mine" was well...a little too synthetic. Don't get me wrong I love electronic music, it's one of my favorite generes but it doesn't fit Alex as well as the guitar/ukulele/real drums. Also every song feels like a ballad, and every song (lyric wise) sounds sort of the same. Every song except like 1 deals with relations and it gets boring. Also the lyrical metaphors aren't as strong in this album. Also the tracks on this album weren't as captivating; it didn't take me too another place like "Sicily", "Dont Look Back", and "No More". The best song on the album was "Dead and Gone", it is a beautifully written song and it is sad yet happy at the same time and extremely captivating. Over all it is a good album and it is good for Alex to change his style a bit but the style was overused. I beg Alex to go back to how it used to be, switch back using guitars and everything else for his next album.

I love Alex, he is brilliant!!!! I can't get enough of all his wonderful music.

Nice... You can never be TOO electronic!

Well Unlike most of the people who reviewed before me, I like this album more than Parrot Stories. In my mind, you can never be too analog, OR you can never be too synthetic. I love electronic music, and even though real instruments show your voice more... Electronic really lets your creativity shine. I am an electronic music artist myself, and people ask me why I do it... And The answer is plain and simple... I like to do it, so do whatever u want, rather it be electronic, or real instruments... Do whatever you want. I do music because I love it, and I'm not about to change to meet other people's needs.
