iTunes Review

Linkin Park returns to its roots on LIVING THINGS, the band’s fifth album. The first single, “BURN IT DOWN,” gives a hint with expansive guitar, shouted choruses, a rap from Mike Shinoda, and Chester Bennington’s naked vulnerability encased in a throat-shredding howl. LP fans craving the chemistry of Hybrid Theory and Meteora should immediately take to LIVING THINGS.

Why, Linkin Park? WHY??? You were soooo had everything...and you threw it all away. Hybrid Theory was an amazing debut. Meteora is probably my most favorite sophomore album out of every band I buy from. I gave you a little leeway with Minutes to Midnight to experiment, and it was pretty good...then you released A Thousand Suns. You are NOT Linkin Park anymore. You've completely lost touch with your roots. Instead of angst driven lyrics, you wallow in self-pity. Instead of driven energy, you're screaming just to scream so you can say "We still know who we are." This album is nothing like Hybrid Theory or Meteora. The lyrics are wrong. The energy is misplaced. There are no more amazing guitar riffs and melodies. I'm sorry. Those of you who think this album is good, listen to their first two albums very carefully before you can safely say that Linkin Park has NOT lost touch.

Listening to the previews, I realized that they wrote "Powerless" from our perspective towards them. Good song because of that.

the reason why people have been giving hate to this album i do not know. after buying a few tracks from this album (lost in the echo, burn it down, castle of glass, and powerless), i decided to buy the whole album. and, i have to say, this album is all i have been listening to since i got it. it is absolutely incredible! like i said, i dont know why many people dont like this album (as well as "minutes to midnight" and "a thousand suns"). i have not been disappointed with linkin park in the time i have been listening to them. i cant wait to see what they will pull off in the next album. 5 stars all the way!!!

i love to bone sounlds like a song for twilight a little.

Although rooted in alternative metal, Linkin Park became one of the most successful acts of the 2000s by welcoming elements of hip-hop, modern rock, and atmospheric electronica into their music. The band's rise was indebted to the aggressive rap-rock movement made popular by the likes of Korn and Limp Bizkit, a movement that paired grunge's alienation with a bold, buzzing soundtrack. Linkin Park added a unique spin to that formula, however, focusing as much on the vocal interplay between singer Chester...
