A Must Buy

I'm so excited that this is available on ITunes finally! What an incredible album. I've been lucky enough to see them live a few times. Add this to your record collection right away.

Original, creative, very enjoyable

I've had this record on repeat for a few days: These songs are not 'listen once' - they are catchy and emotional, with exceptional studio production. I love the lyrics on "Martyr" - Jill sings, 'Money for your own cars,' which is a simple, impactful phrase (whether a burden or a blessing) set behind a soft slide guitar and an expertly played acoustic solo/melody line. Jill's voice simply works with each song. There are elements of baroque style pop, radio pop, folk, country, and rock. I hate to compare because it's very original but maybe some 'sounds like' (again, hard to compare) artists will help others who are interested: Matt Pond PA, Fiona Apple, Sara Bareilles, Bird and Bee. Highly recommended, one of my favorite albums of the year.

Yes to Frozen Trees!

I bought this album earlier this week and after listening to it several times here is my two cents. Frozen Trees evokes a rustic feel with its charming sincerity. At times mournful, at times affirming, aesthetic balance remains the constant between Jill's vocals and Haven's guitar. Thematically, the album predominately speaks to the challenges/realities of love and, in this listener's opinion, deftly captures much of its intangibility. Jill's melancholic crooning over Haven's measured play in "Frozen Trees" is spellbinding. What follows after the title track is cohesive in tone and quality. "So It Seems" floats along rapturously. So easy to enjoy. For fewer than eight bucks, this album is a steal.
