This is great music, but the last track -- Slonimsky's Earbox -- is incomplete. The piece actually runs more than 13 minutes. Don't buy this until Apple fixes the problem. I'm still waiting. Otherwise, I'd give this five-star rating. The compositions and performances are stellar. I've only been listening to Adams' music for a month, but Century Rolls is by far my favorite piece of his. It's very subtle and complex yet very entertaining and lyrical for a piece of so-called "minimalist" music.
the biggest John Adams fan boy but I have to admit this is good. Adams manages to step outside of himself and write some fairly fun yet well written music. I wouldn't be supprised if Century Rolls becomes part of the standard repertoire. I am a bit baffled as to why itunes forces you to by the whole album when Slonimsky's Earbox is only 5:28 in length but it's worth it anyway.
