iTunes Review

With Radney Foster producing, Randy Rogers Band's sixth album sounds still more steeped in rootsy Texas twang. Brady Black's old timey fiddle style and Rogers' lazy drawl both help to give the album a Lone Star State tone, and it's apparent from the catchy "Better Than I Ought To Be" that they'd sound a lot different had Steve Earle's music (and much of the 1990s' alt-country movement) never seeped into Rogers' songwriting consciousness. (The third song here, "Lonely Too Long" even makes reference to taillights fading, a phrase used in Earle's "Before They Make Me Run.")  Rogers takes a detour on "One Woman," an endearing ballad with old school instrumentation and the kind of shiny new song hooks that sound more polished for Nashville than Austin — especially with the more contemporary guitars at the end which come off at times like borrowed effect pedals from The Edge of U2. More Ryan Adams than Steve Earle, "In My Arms Instead" is a standout tune that could make anyone believe Whiskeytown never broke up.

Texas country at its finest

I've heard many a Texas band sell out and change their sound once they get that Nashville tag attached to their record label....not these guys. I think they went even MORE Texas country on this album! There's a great twang and an excellent raw sound to this album, not overproduced. Randy keeps the grit in his voice and we are ever so thankful! Big fan of a great album!

I have been a long time fan, and I was worried they couldn't top Just A Matter Of Time, but they did! I've got another CD to play over and over and never get tired of, a music junkie's dream. They've stayed true to their own original style and delivered another album full of rockin' out country music full of conviction. It has all the moods and tempos you could ask for, and as always, great lyrics and arrangements. One of a kind fellas! Thank God for Randy Rogers Band!!!

Love It!!!

Not as dark as the last ones but not like the pop stuff that most call country. Still sings with a rough voice and the lyrics are great and well written as the older songs. The band has really gotten tight and if you get the chance see them live, they will blow your mind! Favorites are Lonely Too Long, Buy Myself a Chance, Break Even, Let it Go, heck i like it all.

From an early age, music was an important part of Randy Rogers' life. Rogers was raised in Cleburne, Texas, and his great-grandmother taught him how to play the piano at age six, and by 11 he was writing his own songs and learning chords on the guitar. After some time spent in a backing band, Rogers decided that he wanted to front his own group, and soon he and some friends from college formed the Randy Rogers Band, releasing their debut album, Live at Cheatham St. Warehouse, recorded at the bar...
