Quit comparing and enjoy

This is a very solid album from a great musician who used to be in a great band and who gathered some great bandmates to make really heavy music. Metallica fans should just stop comparing and start enjoying the multiple outlets we now have for some real heavy music with some sense to it.

A long time coming....

As someone who was lucky to catch Newsted at a Northern California gig I can tell you that these songs rock and are not cookie cutter metal or Metallica or thrash in the least - reminds me of Sabbath mixed with Motorhead mixed with early Metallica - but with something very original mixed in. The songs I heard in concert were not pure thrash like I was wanted but what I heard was something greater - a true confidence to step out of the shadow of Metallica and forge something new and confident and original. I have great respect for Jason and what he is trying to do with his new band and have no doubt the album will rock. Heroic Dose and As the Crow Flies are real standout metal tracks that will make this album shine.

Sounds more like Motorhead than Metallica

Jason is a better back-up singer than lead. There is a lack of chorus change vocals that is missing. The scratchy vocals don't work for me,,,,,I almost tend to clear my own throat listening to it.....sorry. Musically, I like the direction. Maybe Mushok can sing?

Born on March 4, 1963, in Battle Creek, MI, Newsted and his family relocated when he was 14 to Kalamazoo, MI. Shortly thereafter Newsted discovered rock music via Kiss and their blood-spurting, fire-breathing demon bassist, Gene Simmons. He soon...
