Classic Chicago Blues

There are as many variations on the blues as any other genre of music – all I can tell you is that, for me, John Primer strikes that chord of what the blues should be. Classic blues voice, classic slide, yes sir. Right on the money. There are palpable influences from Waters and Dixon, but if I had to guess I would say his influences go back farther than that (I would bet there was a lot of Louis Jordan involved). We are lucky to have artists like John Primer around to bridge the gap from the old to the new. If there is another Duane Allman/Melvin Taylor/Eric Clapton/Rory Gallagher/Duke Robillard/Roy Buchanan/Buddy Guy out there, just turning say 9-10 years old, it won't surprise me at all that in 2025 he claims John Primer was one of his influences.
