Here it is, the spat out sequel to Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit, the Phantom of the Opera. He really just does not know how to quit. This sequel is not made for the love of composing music but merely for the money and Lloyd Webber's goal of trying to surpass his long ago hit.

So you have you plot, taken from the inspiration of the mystery author Frederick Forsyth, the book was an abomination to the original book's vision of the story. The phantom was not meant to live beyond the Paris Garnier, where he died alone in the catacombs beneath.

And of course, here comes money-grubby Lloyd Webber trying to milk every last bit of fame/fortune he can in his late life with his repetitive melodies and bad choices in casting.

A messo-soprano for a Christine? Really? Why does this girl sound like she ought to be singing (rather whining, if I were really to describe it) on American Idol?

If you're a true fan of Phantom of the Opera, don't bother with the sequel!

Leroux must be in tears now.

I was at first unsure of the idea of a sequel to the passionate and unforgetable Phantom of the Opera, but I have grown to love it in the past few months. The music is wonderful and I believe the cast did a memorable job, especially with Sierra and Ramin as the main leads. I'm sure that the touching melodies of Love Never Dies and Till I Hear You Sing and the haunting lyrics to Beneath a Moonless Sky will be stuck in your head for days. Bravo!

Love Will Never Die

Phantom fans all know that love will never die when it comes to ALW's Phantom, and this new installment rings true. The songs are magical and should be treasured. A real treat for all Phantom fans! Karimloo is brilliant!

Andrew Lloyd Webber is the most successful composer of musicals of his generation and also a breaker of molds for the form. His predecessors were, for the most part, American: New York-based songwriters steeped in Broadway tradition. Lloyd Webber saw his share of shows as a child, too, but he was born in London, the son of William Lloyd Webber, Director of the London College of Music, and was trained at the Royal Academy of Music, hardly the sort of place where you'd be likely to hear Oklahoma! ...
