EDITORS’ NOTES

The Swedish three-piece Dirty Loops have one of the most original sounds in the current music scene: a jazz fusion–EDM–rock amalgamation that nods to Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, and Weather Report, sometimes all in one song. The fact that the single "Hit Me"—a pyrotechnic jam with lightning chord changes and stratospheric vocals—has leant itself to house and techno remixes demonstrates the band's range. Elsewhere on their debut, they nod to Wonder's "High Enough" on "Accidentally in Love," merge burbling slap-bass with synth stabs on "Sexy Girls," and deliver a quizzical jazz interpretation of Avicii's mega-hit "Wake Me Up."

Music for the musician

I love these guys! It's like they take pop tunes and completely re-vamp them with all the funky, jazzy, fusion we wished pop music had! My only wish is that they could add a lead-guitar to the group with the chops to measure-up to what these 3 guys are throwin' down. Still, I'm very much looking forward to the album releasing in August.

Don't Miss This One !!!

Good Grief!!!!! I own 3 boutique bass guitars worth a fortune, I almost burned them when I heard Henrik Linder! Seriously, this band is real rare phenomenon for a trio. Can't stop listening, looking forward to seeing them in Charlotte NC!!!! Go get em DirtyLoops!!!!

About Dirty Loops

Swedish trio Dirty Loops make their own brand of jazz, R&B, and electronic dance music-inflected pop. Formed in 2008, the group features the talents of former childhood friends Jonah Nilsson (vocals, keyboards) and Henrik Linder (bass guitar), along with Aaron Mellergårdh (drums), whom Nilsson and Linder met as teens. After earning their respective music degrees, all three of Dirty Loops' members worked as session musicians. It wasn't until 2008 that they decided to form Dirty Loops as an outlet to express their own genre-bending style of pop music. Initially, they recorded and posted several cover songs, catching the attention of music manager Andreas Carlsson. Carlsson helped the band build its audience and eventually sign a record deal with producer David Foster and Verve. In 2014, Dirty Loops released their debut full-length album, Loopified, featuring the single "Hit Me." ~ Matt Collar
