12 Songs, 46 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

The Swedish three-piece Dirty Loops have one of the most original sounds in the current music scene: a jazz fusion–EDM–rock amalgamation that nods to Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, and Weather Report, sometimes all in one song. The fact that the single "Hit Me"—a pyrotechnic jam with lightning chord changes and stratospheric vocals—has leant itself to house and techno remixes demonstrates the band's range. Elsewhere on their debut, they nod to Wonder's "High Enough" on "Accidentally in Love," merge burbling slap-bass with synth stabs on "Sexy Girls," and deliver a quizzical jazz interpretation of Avicii's mega-hit "Wake Me Up."

Wow

Albums like this remind me of how great music can still be when crafted by truly talented people. This is funky, playful, serious, intense, surprising, and freakin dripping with creativity.

A Pop Funk Jazz Fusion Masterpiece

The level of musical sophistication displayed by these talented three is truly surpasses amazing. You can hear strong hints of Stevie Wonder, Mint Condition, Tower of Power, The System. EWF, Toto and Level 42 throughout the instrumentations and vocal arrangements. Their sound is part old school gospel funk and part fresh aggressive crossover R&B pop. But this set takes pop to an unprecedented level of musical complexity.

DIRTY LOOPS ROCKS!

Finally! A mod band with mod sound and incredibly mad skills! Jonah's vocals, Henrik's lead-bass and Aaron's drums are practically a perfect harmony of awesomeness. Stylistically, they are all over the place, but they seem to conquer everything they attempt. Their weakest songs are the covers. Their first album is spectacular! I hope they get better and have interestingly enough lives to keep writing great music and lyrics without falling into base and debauchery (which about 90% of the US music scene is infected with). Loopified is simply beautiful!
