A legend

For you kiddies that weren't lucky enough to be in Seattle in the Late 80,s early 90's, Andy was the singer for Mother Love Bone, he died of an overdose right before their album came out and Mother Love Bone morphed into Pearl jam. Mother Love Bone was really the first killer rock band to break out of Seattle and would have been huge if he hadn't died. If you don't have it, buy their album Apple. It is classic. Before Mother Love Bone, he had a band called Malfunkshun. A little trippier and raw. I think alot of what we have here is demos and outtakes from that band. From what I heard here, only worth buying if you are a diehard fan. Buy Mother Love Bone and listen to it on a rainy day. You will love it

Don't Criticise Without Reading This

When I saw this under new and noteworthy I practically feel off my chair. Being a devoted grunge fan, Andrew Wood is someone I am very fond of. If you haven't heard of Andrew Wood, he was the founder of grunge bands Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. Malfunkshun was one of the two founding bands of the genre grunge, and Andrew founded it when he was 14! A true prodigy, undeniably. Mother Love Bone was pretty much Pearl Jam (who I know you've heard of) with this guy instead of Eddie Vedder. They're very good, check them out.
Unfortunatly, Andrew died from a drug overdose when he was 24, leaving a scar in grunge history. The band Temple of the Dog was then formed as a tribute band to him by Soundgarden/Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell.
What this collection is, is demos and interviews previously unreleased, not finished songs or clean recordings! This is for strong fans of Andrew's music and life, not the average person.
If you still think Andrew is a poor musician, listen to the album Apple by Mother Love Bone.

Dude, u gotta be kidding me..

Haters are writing reviews? F U..I've been waiting to hear this material for 22 years & I personally thank Kevin, Brian & Regan for making this happen..I know they got this stuff out (finally!) & I can't understand why anyone who doesn't appreciate Andy's music would even listen?! Buy this now if u were around in '89 & never thought you'd get to hear the rest-(these ARE lo-fi recordings-fair warning..)

Born: January 8, 1966 in Columbus, MS

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s

Most Seattle rock bands of the late '80s (Soundgarden, Nirvana, Mudhoney, etc.) were considered a reaction against the then-prevailing glam metal scene that had MTV and radio in the palm of its hand. But there was at least one Emerald City band that could've fit into the mainstream, combining the area's trademark Sabbath-meets-Stooges garage rock with glam's pretty-boy looks and anthemic choruses -- Mother Love Bone. And although the group included five members, the undisputed leader and focal point...
