iTunes Editors’ Notes

Ledisi’s transition to a major label coincides perfectly with her maturation as an artist: this release makes it clear that her artistic voice is fully formed. The album utilizes a stellar team of producers who double as accomplished instrumentalists. Jamey Jaz, Luther Hanes, Sundra Manning, Lorenzo Johnson and Rex Rideout have experience in jazz and gospel, and they infuse Lost and Found with textures and movements that go beyond the realm of R&B. Of course, Ledisi herself is the star of this show. She co-wrote every one of the album’s 16 tracks (most with Rex Rideout), and provides the material with extraordinary diversity. There is sticky funk in “Today,” brooding seduction in “Alright,” and sun-filled, uptempo hooks in “The One” and “I Tried.” To every song Ledisi brings a jazz vocalist’s liquid range and a seasoned singer’s attention to tone and phrasing. Around the velvet motions of her backing band her voice twirls and bends and glides, but it never trips. More crucially, she is wholly present in every note, giving the songs on Lost and Found gravity even as Ledisi moves through them with a dancer’s agility.

Simply Amazing !!! A True Vocalist...best true R&B CD of the year !

I've been listening to Ledisi for several years now and have been waiting patiently for her new CD....and the wait was well worth it ! Just an amazing singer, and this CD really lets her talents shine. She sounds great on every track, and if you are ready to hear a real "singer" then you need to get this CD. Nice grooves on the CD, and yet they sound original and organic, not the typical mechanical garbage we hear on most CD's nowadays. While many may have never heard of Ledisi or even seen her live, I am sure with the release of this CD we will all be seeing and hearing alot more of her. IF you get a chance to see Ledisi perform live you will be blown away. Get this CD , you won't regret it !

Ledisi is about to BLOW UP!!

"Joy" shows of the appreciation of being able to love that special someone. "You and Me" is a smooth groove about my special boo and me. "Best Friend" is about that special love that can develop between two peeps who have been there for each other forever, and one of them "doesn't know what to do, can't stop wanting the other". "Think of You" is all about that feeling that no matter what is going on in your life, your mind stays on that special someone that is the "air you breathe, the love of your life". "Today" is an affirmation that things will be different, that today things will go my way. "Get to Know You" is all about the joy and pleasure taht one gets from getting to know someone that you have been wanted to find out everything about. " Upside Down" is a remake of the Diana Ross disco song. Naw, just kidding, it is a sort of new day "Wake Up Everybody" where the world needs to change what it is doing and turn things around. "In the Morning" is about always yearning, wanting, and needing that loving when you start that day. " I Tried" is about knowing when to move on after both parties have tried to make it work, to no avail. "Lost and Found" is a haunting type tune which seeks for someone to find me, help me find love, essence, meaning. "We Are One" is a short but very emotional song about the oneness of two people in love. Too deep. "The One" is about the one who brightens up your day who is always there for you. "Someday" is about a child just wanting to make his/her parents proud. Put the disk in, and let Ledisi touch everything that is in your essence, your being. The girl is deep and BAAD!

Ledisi is the best that did it!!!

I've been following Ledisi since 99 and I must say that if you are a Ledisi fan you are in for a treat. If you aren't a fan, prepare to be converted. This is real soul music with that splash of jazz that just makes you feel good when you put it on. Be sure to see her live if she's in your city too. That's another great experience within it's self!!!! -alex
