My Only Rescue

My Only Rescue

Infusing their pop/rock sound with an activist spirit, The Museum turns My Only Rescue into a cry for earthly freedom as well as heavenly salvation. The Christian quartet has long recognized the connection between faith and struggle — after all, they took their name from a monument marking the fall Romania’s Communist government. The band draws here upon their experience working with Compassion International and the anti-human trafficking organization Not for Sale to craft songs that reach out to the oppressed. “All Over the World” kicks things off with a burst of anthemic energy, carried by a lean, driving arrangement that frames Ben Richter’s urgent vocals. “Not For Sale” explicitly deals with the topic of modern-day slavery with empowering lyrics set to a moody, piano-centered track. The focus is on the power of God’s love in tunes like “Solid Ground,” “Found in You” and “Better Than Life.” Galvanizing rockers (“Coming Closer”), slinky dance grooves (“Lost in a Moment”) and hymn-like praise numbers (“In Jesus Name”) all serve to reinforce The Museum’s overarching message of hope and redemption on this uplifting song collection.
