Editors’ Notes

As far back as the ‘60s, Barbra Streisand began matching voices with the great singers of the era. The decades have seen her trading verses with artists from just about every idiom of modern popular music, and the most familiar cuts here testify to Streisand’s ability to find emotional common ground with stylists as different as Frank Sinatra (“I’ve Got a Crush On You”), Barry Gibb (“Guilty,”), Donna Summer (“No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)”), Kris Kristofferson (“Lost Inside of You”) and Neil Diamond (“You Don’t Bring Me Flowers).” Lesser-known tracks feature intriguing numbers with everyone from Ray Charles (“Cryin’ Time”) to legendary composer Harold Arlen (“Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead”). For those who mostly know Barbra’s later work, there are revelatory moments to be heard here, such as her heart-tugging duet with Judy Garland on “Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again.” New studio team-ups with Barry Manilow (“I Won’t Be the One to Let Go”) and Josh Groban (“All I Know of Love”) demonstrate that Streisand hasn’t lost her sensitivity or panache as a singing partner.

Customer Reviews

Great compliation of duets with most everyone she has dueted with to this point

2 new recordings for this compilation, the 1st & last ones. You can hear the years between those songs and ones where she "duets" with herself (One Less Bell to Answer....) and the Garland duet from Judy's tv show, and the new ones recorded specifically for this cd! A great collection, overall.

Duets (2002)

Barbra Streisand is an amazing artist and one of the best. The collaboration with the artists make this album the greatest work of Barbra. RECOMMENDED TRACKS: 1, 4, 7, 8, 9, 13, 15 & 19

Duets - Fabulous

Great mix of duets that provide variety and depth to the collection. Barbara's voice only sounds better when harmonizing with/or playing off another. If you own just one Streisand album, Duets should be your choice. Wonderful music companion for long walks or long drives. Soothing and inspiring.

Barbra Streisand's status as one of the most successful singers of her generation was remarkable not only because her popularity was achieved in the face of a dominant musical trend — rock & roll — which she did not follow, but also because she used her vocal skills as a mere stepping stone to other careers, as a stage and film actress and as a film director. Born in 1942 and raised in Brooklyn, New York, she struggled briefly as an actress and nightclub singer in New York during...
