Album Review

Issued in 2007, Live from Madison Square Garden presents the massively popular Maryland frat/jam band O.A.R. (Of a Revolution) performing at the renowned New York City venue in front of thousands of adoring fans. While the reggae-leaning pop/rock group offers up some older material (the buoyant long-time favorite "That Was a Crazy Game of Joker"), the set mainly finds them drawing from later major-label outings In Between Now & Then (2003) and Stories of a Stranger (2006) on tracks such as the sunny "Hey Girl" and the groove-laden "52-50." A testament to both the ensemble's tight instrumental interplay and frontman Marc Roberge's inviting guy-next-door persona, this concert album serves as an excellent song sampler for the uninitiated, and is essential for any O.A.R. diehard., Rovi

O.A.R. is a little over the top, but still fantastic

I am a huge O.A.R. fan, always have been. I love there live material with a passion. This new cd at MSG deserves much acclaim for its originality, but at times i struggle to follow the music. Its a little bit harder to sing along with due to its elaborate into's and spontaneous lyrical styles. However, I am fond of the energetic crowd which is very evident throughout each track. Although this cd is a must-have, it falls short of thier best cd 34th & 8th, O.A.R.'s most recent live cd prior to the release of Live at MSG. In addition, the DVD came with 34th & 8th while the DVD and CD are sold seperately for Live at MSG.

oar at their best live

with the relase of this album, oar officially overtakes dave matthews as the most exhillirating band to listen to live. this album definately tops oar's first two live recordings and includes great versions of songs from stories of a stranger (love and memories, heard the world, one shot, lay down, and 52-50). although the classic hits are slightly changed and a little difficult to sing along too, they are just as good, or better than ever. best songs on the album are love and memories, hey girl, heard the world, something coming over, lay down, black rock, and of course POKER. but buying the whole thing is a must for the true oar fan

O.A.R. really brings it home!

I LOVE O.A.R. and this CD is one of the best - I couldn't wait to get it - and they do not disappoint. I O.A.R. perform for the first time as a opening act for Sheryl Crow in Portland and I was totally taken. I love the recorded live - and it really brings it home for all the shows I have seen. O.A.R. makes you feel good about life - and I can't imagine not having their music - it would be so bland. They really are the best and this CD delivers in everyway!

O.A.R. (an acronym for the band's full moniker, Of a Revolution) transformed itself from an independent college band to a Billboard chart-topper over the course of a long, varied career. First, two of the band's demo recordings were hawked on university campuses. Then, news spread about the band's roots rock and reggae-inflected songs, which owed much to the jam band genre. Before long, O.A.R.'s website had turned into a highly trafficked Internet destination, and the group gradually left the college...
