iTunes Review

The first thing to grab you about Brad Paisley’s 11th album is the guest list. Skip to track four and you’ll find Mick Jagger living out some Grand Ole Opry fantasies on the gloriously louche “Drive of Shame.” Timbaland adds some down-home beats to the anarchic “Grey Goose Chase” and the introspective “Solar Power Girl,” while a Johnny Cash poem is adapted for the affecting “Gold All Over the Ground.” Despite the A-list help, this is still the sort of rollicking, relatable, and unmistakably good time that Paisley always delivers.

Going back to his roots!

Until his 2011 effort 'This is Country Music' Brad was widely considered the best hope for today's country music, able to perfectly blend the neotraditional style (Alan Jackson and George Strait) with a more contemporary sound (songs such as Welcome to the Future, Old Alabama, The World are a perfect example).
While "Wheelhouse" was an interesting and challenging album -excellent in my opinion-, it was really outside Brad's comfort zone.
The following "Moonshine in the Trunk" saw Brad experimenting with production effects on neotraditional songs, but it ultimately ended up being not that great and a little overstuffed by filler songs.
With this upcoming record, it looks like Brad is going back to his signature style: the Telecaster shines again among fiddles and steel guitars, the subject matters look refreshing (the lead single Today is a perfect example of this) and a sense of growth permeates the record.
In today's country desert, ruled by annoying bro country sellouts such as Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett, Chris Lane and Florida Georgia Line, guys like Brad, Tim McGraw and Jon Pardi might be the ones to finally turn the page!

Thank Brad Paisley for reminding me what country music is all about. ❤

This album is the definition of shallow content and confused identity. Paisley is as talented as the day is long, but whatever this is feels more like trying to fit in than setting a standard. Nothing special here. Complete waste of artistic ability.

Arguably the preeminent male country artist to emerge in the 2000s, Brad Paisley cannily blended the past with the present, paying constant tribute to his forefathers -- when he reached the top of the charts, he still found space for Little Jimmy Dickens and George Jones in his videos -- but pushing the music forward into the new millennium, expanding its sonic and thematic possibilities. This sense of adventure could be heard on 2009's American Saturday Night, a big-hearted and eclectic record that...
