Album Review

Michael Mayer (“Lovefood”), Tosca (“Heidi Bruehl”), Soulstice (“Wind [Fila Brazilia Remix]”), and Lee “Scratch” Perry (who guests on Zuco 103's “Love Is Queen Omega”) are some of the bigger names who populate the eighth volume of the Hôtel Costes mix album series. The DJ, Stéphane Pompougnac, also contributes “Last Night,” an oddball tune drenched in organ. As usual, the selections maintain an upbeat, albeit relaxing, mood. A cover of Donald Byrd's mid-'70s jazz-funk classic "Think Twice" is unrecognizable until the vocal kicks in.

Customer Reviews

I really love this one!

I have had this album since 2005, and I love it to bits. This would have to be one of my favourite hotel Costes albums.

Now my list of favourite tracks include:

1. Lovefood- Michael Mayer
2. Lemon Tea?- Jazzanova & Liquid Lounge
3. Getting Closer- Hird
4. Dream Machine- Mark Farina & Sean Hayes
5. Last Night- By the best
6. Only in New York- Demon Ritchie
7. Heidi Bruhl- Tosca
8. Kisskiss- Parov Stelar

Also A la peche is such a dreamy outro. Lovely album.

One of the best Hotel Costes albums

#8 here is definitely worth a full listen. Looking at the artwork, the cover fits the album perfectly; dark, mysterious, sensual, beautiful, and sophisticated. Highlights of the album are
Dream Machine
Think Twice
Last Night
Getting Closer
Lemon Tea?
A la Peche
All Nite
Devil Train

Practically the whole mix is perfect! Definitely a feel good album for me. Highly recommend this one!
