Stewart Francke: A Midwestern Van Morrison

"Love Implies" proves, as did Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks", that the whole is indeed sometimes greater than the sum of it's parts. Stewart Francke's new album seamlessly blends eclectic musical influences - which range from the Beatles (you'll think he's channeling George Harrison on "Love Is Bliss"), to the myriad of Motown and pop artists he grew up with, to the thoughtful insights on the tribulations of life, love, family, and society of the great singer/songwriters. All this while always maintaining his own midwestern, yet very personal musical and lyrical imprimatur.
"Love Implied" should provide the impetus to propel Mr. Francke out of the shadow of more prominent Michigan artists and into the national spotlight he so richly deserves.
