Album Review

Drop Dead, Gorgeous' label touted their EP Be Mine, Valentine as "the ultimate break-up album." This is true, in a sense: any relationship that had this record in constant rotation would almost certainly breakup. With half of the band still in high school (and together for less than a year), their immaturity shows — from their formulaic, grueling take on post-hardcore/metal to their distraught emo-esque lyrics that make trendy use of dark and murderous imagery. Chugging through six songs in 12 minutes, the band sports angular guitars, metal breakdowns, and shrieking/growling vocals that spew sentiments like "Do you believe in love at first sight?/'Cause you look so graceful burning alive." At times, it sounds like they're trying to incorporate more elements than they really know what to do with ("Bullets Are Scene"), but hopefully that'll all be smoothed out as the band matures and finds its own identity. As most of the songs are less than two minutes long, the record seems to end before it even really starts; however, fans of Norma Jean and Fear Before the March of Flames may still enjoy the brutal echo left in Drop Dead's wake.

As Good As It Gets

As a fan of all hardcore genre's for a long time, I loved Drop Dead, Gorgeous when I first heard them. The screams are actually quite unique and the rest of the music is amazing too. I can't decide wether this EP or In Vouge is better because they're both great, and a little bit different. Two songs from this album where re-done in the full-length; "Knife V.S. Face, Round 1", and "I Never Knew You Where So Much Fun." Great Band Great CD. 50 Stars.

I'd have to say that this one is much better than their new release "In Vogue." In the EP, every song sounds different and they are always new to me every time i listen to them. But in the new album the screaming can get very annoying and sounds the same in every song, it never changes. I love DD,G but "In Vogue" got old very fast.

Drop Dead, Gorgeous is indeed just that and awesome!!!

It's about time iTunes got some Drop Dead, Gorgeous music on here! Hopefully they'll get the other DDG CD on here so we can buy it (even though I already own it). This band is truly amazing and has a wonderful mix of vocals and hardcore music.
