Ratings and Reviews
Maybe Kanye is as brilliant as he says he is.
The moody and thoughtful "Love Lockdown" is one of the most interesting mainstream releases, if not the most, of 2008. A haunting yet catchy melody of failed love, this song seems miscategorized as "hip-hop" or "rap." Alternative would probably be the best label for this brilliant track. Fusing insistent percussion, bass, minimalist production, piano, and, surprisingly enough, AutoTune, Kanye has created a bizzare and unsettling musical landscape. Hopefully "Love Lockdown" will be well receiced and understood by the mainstream pop audience masses.
Come On Now!!
Kanye can do so much better, this song is sort of boring and repetative. Its definitely not what we're used to hearing from Kanye, to some this might be a good thing, but i feel like the catchy beats nd the deep lyrics usually associayted with Kanye just arent present in this song!
Kanye's Talent Certainly Not "Lockdown"
This song is innovative, catchy, and a breath of fresh air among the recycled formula that is repeating over and over in music. Kanye really shows his talent, because this song is slightly in a different genre than he usually encompasses and he seems right at home, if not on top of the pack. This is a surefire hit, and due to the buzz on the internet directly after his VMA performance of people looking to buy this song, it is definitely going to #1! Maybe even quicker than his previous singles. If the album is anything along the lines of it's first single, I'm sure Kanye will finally get his Album of the Year Grammy. P.S.- Can't wait to see the video!
